Registration Issues

This topic is for discussing registration issues. In a small number of cases, things don't quite work right the first time so I wanted to document the problems and solutions people encountered.

Upgrade Registration doesn't take

If you have trouble getting IPNetMonitorX to accept an upgrade registration, this may indicate you have an old registration key hiding on your hard drive that IPNetMonitorX did not successfully remove. Please remove any files named "IPNetMonitorKey" or "registrationKey" in

/Library/Application Support/Sustainable Softworks/

or

~/Library/Application Support/Sustainable Softworks/

Make sure you check both "/Library/Application Support/Sustainable Softworks/" at the top level of your hard drive, and "~/Library/Application Support/Sustainable Softworks/" within your home folder.

Then re-apply your new registration data [copy your registration data to the clipboard and launch the IPNetMonitorX application again]. That should resolve the problem.

Trial has expired

The first time the program is run on your computer, it calculates an expiration date 21 days from the current date and time and saves it to a file on your hard drive. Sometimes people forget or don't realize that someone else might have previously launched a copy of IPNetMonitorX on their system.

If you need help to reset the trial period, please contact the developer directly so I can send you an Extended Trial key.

Done this when I had to re-install IPNetMonitorX 2.6.2 after Mavericks upgrade from Mountain Lion. Still refuses to accept the license script even if I manually add previous key from my backups into /library...... location you specified! :(

Such an excellent program, so I'm sure it's pilot error on my part again(you assisted earlier this year with similar problem on it's original install).

This is example of script I'm pasting (with last few chars of serial number obfuscated naturally):
Code: Select all
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>IPNetMonitorX_key</key>
<string>
449143bc d3064149 956ff2a1 ab222e59 fb450e7a 1102*****
</string>
<key>date</key>
<date>2013-02-08T19:40:14Z</date>
<key>licensedCopies</key>
<string>1</string>
<key>name</key>
<string>StackSocial Bundle_501</string>
<key>notice</key>
<string>
This file contains a licensed registration code and is Copyright 2002 by Sustainable Softworks Inc. Unauthorized copying and distribution is expressly prohibited.
</string>
<key>organization</key>
<string/>
</dict>
</plist>

When you say IPNetMonitorX refuses to accept the registration data, is there an error message or other indication as to what happened?

Is it reporting no valid registration data was found, or that it couldn't save your registration data?

I'm pretty sure I can help you in either case but you'll want to Email me directly. The registration data you posted is missing some text at the top of the XML file.

Kind Regards,

Thanks Peter, but it appears to be a problem with Safari as it works ok on Chrome. Despite disabling all extensions/plugins on Safari Version 7.0 (9537.71) it fails with "Sorry your registration data was not recognised Press Help for further assistance." as per: Image (if it displays)

The same happened on Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with IPNM v 2.6.1 with Safari 5.x and 6.x earlier in year on same MacBook Pro (7,1 with 8GB RAM).
Presumably since no-one else has apparently reported it then it must be user specific (background) process conflict that I haven't yet identified.

Again apologies for wasting your time.

Hi again 2yrs and 3 months later and again I suffer the purgatory of having to migrate your excellent (and invaluable application) from Mavericks/Yosemite to now ElCapitan 10.11.3 !
I think I've paid for this more than twice (but it's still worth it) as I can't find my notes on last 2.6.2 release/payment and current (now paid again) 2.6.7 release?
Is there some "Version major point release upgrade cost table" I can check so I'm not unnecessarily paying triple in a years time when Apple release next OSX version? Might sound mean considering the superlative R&D you put into it but I'm only a (poor) pensioner? (OK not that poor perhaps? ;) )
