Is it possible to use my Mac as a phone on a landline?

Essentially, I would like to use my Macintosh as my telephone with a regular AT&T landline.

That is I want the sound to come out my mac speakers and my microphone to transmit my voice.

I would like to get rid of my Desk Telephone and just use my Mac.

Is this possible with Phone Amego?

If not, are there other solutions anyone is aware of ?

I found a couple of others out there but they were both discontinued....

There's no good way to do this with a conventional landline. My suggestion would be to consider a VoIP service provider and run a softphone on your computer. There's more information here:

My favorite solution is to replace your old landline with a good VoIP phone that supports HD voice (like a Yealink SIP-T22P). The result is better than using your Mac as a speakerphone and allows full integration with your Mac.

You would need a USB voice modem and compatible driver. The market has moved on so these are difficult to acquire and there's little demand.

I found one place that has something but it's kind of expensive.
